2 Ways To Improve Your Golf Score

Golf is a hugely popular sport at the moment, and to someone who hasn’t played it before then it can look deceptively easy, but anyone who has played knows that is not the case. Some of the recent surge in popularity has to be attributed to the popularity of the sport’s most famous player, Tiger Woods, but I think it is also popular because it is relaxing to watch and to play.

With other sports like football and baseball then if you want to have a game you need lots of people and there will be lots of running around, with golf then you can go by yourself or with some close friends and have a relaxing day out in the sun and enjoy yourself. Meditation:

If you want to play golf well then it does require a lot of mental discipline. You need to be able to ignore anybody talking around you or any noises from outside of the course (traffic noise etc) and probably taunts coming from your golf buddies as they try to put you off your shot too! You also need to stop your muscles tensing up because that will ruin your swing and your ball will end up in a tree somewhere, and you need to focus on the ball to make sure you connect correctly, all this needs to be done while under pressure not to mess up in front of anyone you came with.

For some people then it is second nature and they have no problem with this, but for the rest of us then putting in some effort to learn how to calm yourself and focus will really help you out on the course. Meditation is easy to learn and will really help you to focus and relax, just make sure you give it a few tries before you decide to give up because it will take a while for you to quiet down your mind so you can really benefit from it. Once you can focus and clear your mind though meditation then you will probably really enjoy it, and you should be a lot calmer and more focused throughout your day. Then when you go to take a shot on the course you can use the same techniques to calm yourself and focus.

Work your core:

I said earlier that golf is not too strenuous, but it does take a toll on your core body muscles even if you are not running around all the time like in some sports.

You use the core muscles of your body for everything from standing straight, to bending over, to sitting down, and especially when you swing a golf club, yet we hardly ever work on this area. I don’t just mean doing situps either, I mean working your lower back, your oblique muscles and your main abs so you have a strong core that both supports your spine and protects your organs, but also allows you to give more power into your swing. So take some time to look up some exercises for your core muscles and slowly start to work on them, then in a few weeks time you can show off your more powerful swing when you are down the course!
